Sanyukta Mathur and Courtney Pippin-Mathur will discuss collaborating on their upcoming picture book, Happy Diwali!, the story of how Sanyukta brings the traditions of the holiday Diwali from India to her home and multi-cultural and multi-racial family in America. Courtney and Sanyukta are sisters-in-law as well as co-authors. (Courtney is also the illustrator.) They will cover how the book idea originated, how they worked together to tell a story that is an integral part of Sanyukta’s culture and something more recent for Courtney and how the book changed from a list of activities to a fully rounded story.
