SCBWI Mid Atlantic’s Virtual Fall Conference with Hollins University

Join us for our first ever virtual fall conference! We are excited to collaborate with Hollins University for this event and bring some amazing programming to our members that is usually only offered to Hollins MFA students. Come for a weekend of publishing and craft talks, socials and roundtables, and opportunities to receive feedback from our esteemed faculty through manuscript and portfolio consultations!

Free Pre-conference Events and Socials: Friday, October 23 **included with a Saturday ticket

6:00-7:00pm Meet-and-Greet Social. A chance to make friends, play a few games, and meet some of our faculty before Saturday!

7:00 – 8:00pm PAL Roundtable. Meet your fellow PAL members and welcome our new PAL Coordinator!

7:00-8:00pm Illustrator Roundtable. Come meet our new Illustrator Coordinator!

7:00-8:00pm New Member and First-Timer Welcome hosted by Angele McQuade

1:00 Keynote Address by Meg Medina, Never Letting Go: Growing Merci Suárez from a short story to an award-winning trilogy

Optional Intensives: Friday, October 23 (extra fee required)

Limited to the first 25 participants for each. Intensives are small-group classes that encourage attendee participation and because of this they will not be recorded for future replay. **Please do not sign up if you can not attend your class live. ** To register for an intensive, you must register for the Saturday portion of the conference as well.

Manuscript and Portfolio Consultations:

A limited number of 10 minute phone consultations will be available with faculty members. This is a unique opportunity to receive feedback from some of the experts in our field including agents, editors, authors, and Hollins University faculty. When you register, please select your reviewer and one ten-minute slot. You will only be able to see reviewers and time slots that are still available. Phone consultations are being offered on Friday, 10/23 from 4 – 7 pm, Saturday 10/24 from 6 – 9 pm, or Sunday, 10/25 from 1 – 4 pm. You may choose one manuscript/PB dummy or one portfolio consultation. Please read the guidelines HERE.

 

 

Fees:

Friday Intensives (Each): $25 Members, $40 Non-Members

Saturday ticket: $60 Members, $75 Non-Members

Manuscript and Portfolio Consultations: $45 for Members and Non-Members
